SALT LAKE CITY — The Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission has launched a new website to better inform voters on the merits of Utah judges throughout the state.

A key feature of judges.utah.gov is the "at a glance" summary on each judge so voters can assess facts quickly.

"Often, voters are unaware of judges unless they’ve heard something in the news. We want them to have full access to make an informed voting decision," said Jennifer Yim, commission executive director.

The commission evaluates judges on legal ability, judicial temperament, procedural fairness and administrative performance.

The site provides voters a brief biography on each judge and the commission’s recommendation on whether to retain that judge for another term. It also allows public comment on any judge serving in the state and offers information on becoming a courtroom observer.
