ESCALANTE, Garfield County — A Colorado man fell to his death while on a camping trip at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, police said Thursday.
The body of Andrew Mark Davis, 58, from Ridgeway, Colorado, was located at the bottom of a cliff around noon Thursday, said Garfield County sheriff's spokeswoman Cheryl Church.
Davis was on a camping trip with a woman, Church said in a statement. He walked away from his campsite around 4 p.m. Wednesday and was reported missing Thursday morning, she said.
Garfield County Search and Rescue crews found Davis' body and determined he fell about 200 feet from the edge of a cliff.
Davis was an experienced mountain climber, according to Church.
