WEST JORDAN - Police are seeking the public's help to identify the man seen in home surveillance video from a house near 9000 South and Julianne Lane in West Jordan.

West Jordan police said a call of a suspicious person came in around 12:15 p.m. Monday afternoon near 8600 South and 2700 West at the Cascade Spring Apartments.

When police arrived they said a man, suspected of burglarizing one of the apartments and stealing a car, fled from officers in a white truck.

During the pursuit police said the suspect took a sharp turn onto 9000 South and Julie Ann Way, took out a street sign and crashed into two cars parked a driveway.

"We heard a bang and then a tire just came up over the willow tree," Grayham Coopard said.

He and his wife were on the back porch when the crash occurred in their driveway.

"I had just gotten back from grocery shopping and pulled in next to my sisters rental (car)...30 minutes later that's when it happened," Coopard said.

Coopard said he feels grateful the only casualties were material.

"God has a sleight of hand, we're thankful no one was hurt," he said.

His 2-year-old son Grayham Jr. was just feet away looking through the living room window when the crash happened.

"I think if that Julianne Lane sign hadn't have been there it wouldn't have veered him off, they could have ended up in our front room."

If you recognize the man in the video, please call West Jordan Police at 801-840-4000.
