MILLCREEK (AP) — Police said a man found dead in a Millcreek apartment complex may have been shot while he was house-sitting at his ex-girlfriend's residence.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal sids 32-year-old Gildardo Toledo of Kearns had been at the apartment for about a week when he was reported dead on Friday evening.
He said Toledo was staying at the apartment while his daughter and her mother were out of town. A relative found Toledo's body in the apartment after the family could not reach him for several days.
Hoyal said the man seems to have died from a gunshot wound several days ago. The state medical examiner will examine the body to confirm the cause of death.
The victim was known to have a friendly relationship with his ex-girlfriend, according to Toledo's sister-in-law, Mattie Toledo.
Detectives are currently asking the public to report any information they have about the incident by calling 385-468-9815.
Gildardo leaves behind a 14-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son.
Mattie said the *Gildardo Toledo Memorial Fund has been set up at Wells Fargo bank for those who want to help pay for funeral expenses.
