SALT LAKE CITY — As snowy weather nears, roads around Utah are beginning to close for the season.

Here’s a list of current and expected road closures for the winter season, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. Most of these roads are closed between October to May each year.

Closed

Guardsman Pass, aka state Route 224, from Park City to Midway is closed and will reopen in late May or early June.

Guardsman Pass, aka state Route 190, from Big Cottonwood Canyon to Park City is closed for the season. The route is expected to reopen at the end of May.

American Fork/Alpine Loop, aka state Route 92, is closed as of Thursday and will reopen in late May or early June.

Closing soon

Wolf Creek Pass, aka state Route 35, from Francis to Hanna will close from milepost 12 to 27 sometime in late November. It will reopen on April 12, according to the UDOT website.

Big Mountain Pass, aka state Route 65, will close from milepost 3 to 13.2 once it begins to snow.

Mirror Lake Highway, aka state Route 150, will close sometime in the next month. The highway typically reopens at the end of May or early June.

Cedar Breaks Highway, aka state Route 148, will close from milepost 0.2 to 19 during the snowy months. (Exact dates were not provided.)

Mt. Holly Junction Road, aka state Route 153, will close once it begins to snow.

Monte Cristo, aka state Route 39, east of Ogden, is expected to close in late November from milepost 37 to 55.5.

New Schedule

The Lake Powell Ferry will exercise winter hours from now until April 13. The ferry will run Thursday through Saturday from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
