NEW YORK (AP) — St. John's sophomore Yankuba Sima is transferring from the men's basketball team.
The team made the announcement on Friday. The 6-foot-11 center started eight of 10 games this season and averaged 6.0 points and 3.5 rebounds.
The native of Girona, Spain, averaged 7.6 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds last season. He was second in the Big East with 2.5 blocks per game.
Sima says in a statement he wants to "explore options" that will be a better fit for his goals.
