SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Kenny Pickett threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns, one of them coming on a trick play to put Pittsburgh ahead for good, and the Panthers beat Syracuse 27-20 on Friday night for their fourth straight win. Pittsburgh (5-2, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) had won its previous three, by a combined seven points, and two of those victories came in the final minute. Syracuse falls to 0-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the only team in the Atlantic Division without a win.

UNDATED (AP) — Virginia is hoping to re-establish itself as the ACC's Coastal Division favorite when the Cavaliers play host to Duke. The Cavaliers have lost two in a row to fall from heir perch atop the division. They have beaten the Blue Devils four consecutive times and Saturday will have to slow an offense that has averaged more than 40 points in its last five games.

UNDATED (AP) — Virginia Tech has won two in a row and can get back into the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division race with a victory against North Carolina. Virginia Tech has won all three meetings with UNC under Justin Fuente, but the fourth-year Hokies coach said the Tar Heels have a different look under first-year returning coach Mack Brown. The biggest difference, Fuente says, is consistent quarterback play with Sam Howell at the controls.

BOSTON (AP) — Boston College is turning to sophomore Dennis Grosel at quarterback against North Carolina State to try to end a two-game losing streak and keep the Eagles' hopes of a bowl game alive. Grosel replaced Anthony Brown after he was injured in the Oct. 5 game against Louisville. In the most extensive playing time of his career, Grosel was 9 for 24 for 111 yards. He also ran for 47 yards and was also picked off once.
