INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Pacers are the NBA's hottest team, winners of seven in a row, and just a half-game off of the Central Division lead after last night's win by first-place Milwaukee. The Pacers look to extend that streak tonight at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Brooklyn Nets, meanwhile, put their five-game win streak on the line against the Los Angeles Lakers.
DENVER (AP) — Two division leaders from the NBA's Western Conference meet up tonight in Denver, as the Nuggets host the Dallas Mavericks. Tonight's NBA action also includes the Washington Wizards visiting the Atlanta Hawks, who are trying to snap a three-game losing streak.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — The Winnipeg Jets carry a five-game winning streak into tonight's game against the Kings in Los Angeles. The Jets are coming off an overtime win against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the team with the NHL's best record. Tampa Bay goes to Vancouver tonight to play the Canucks.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have new reasons for optimism as they prepare to make a run at the Super Bowl. For years, they've relied on star quarterback Drew Brees to help them score a lot of points and put up big yardage. But they showed last night that their defense can be relied on when the offense sputters. And that allowed them to grind out a 12-9 win over Carolina. The Saints are now 12-and-2.
