UNDATED (AP) — Kansas has returned to Number 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 following Gonzaga's loss to Tennessee. The Jayhawks received 57 first-place votes from a 65-person media panel despite struggling to get past New Mexico State. Number 2 Duke received four first-places votes, with Number 3 Tennessee, fourth-ranked Gonzaga, Number 5 Michigan and Number 6 Virginia getting one each.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations says the Kansas City Royals and outfielder Billy Hamilton have agreed to a $5.25 million contract for next season that includes up to $1 million in incentives. Hamilton is a career .236 hitter whose biggest attribute is his speed — he stole at least 50 bases four straight seasons before dipping to 34 last season. He helps to solidify what had been a shaky outfield for Kansas City last season.

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Braves infielder Rio Ruiz has been claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles. The 24-year-old Ruiz played sparingly with the Braves the last three seasons and had little future with the team after the emergence of Johan Camargo and the signing of free agent Josh Donaldson. Ruiz played a total of 72 games with Atlanta, hitting .189 with four homers and 21 RBIs.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — ESPN confirms that it's moving up the start time of its Sunday night baseball games by one hour in 2019. The games will now start a little after 7 p.m. Players who'd had to travel after those Sunday night games had complained that they reached the next city at dawn, making them tired at the start of the next series.

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have fired general manager Reggie McKenzie less than two years after he was named the NFL's executive of the year. A person familiar with the move says McKenzie was let go Monday from the position he had held for almost seven seasons. McKenzie's status was in doubt ever since coach Jon Gruden was given a 10-year contract last January to take charge of the football operation for the Raiders.
