CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson wants to raise the cigarette tax even more than Gov. Brian Sandoval proposed in an effort to plug a budget hole. The Republican lawmaker said that he wants to amend a measure to raise the cigarette tax from 80 cents per pack to $1.80 per pack. Sandoval proposed a 40-cent hike.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton says the nation needs to fix its broken immigration system and that any legislation needs to include a path to "full and equal citizenship." The Democratic presidential candidate is singling out her potential Republican rivals, saying at a Las Vegas high school that not a single Republican consistently supports a pathway to citizenship.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The developer of a sprawling Chinese-themed resort on the Las Vegas Strip says the hotel-casino is expected to open by mid-2018 on the former site of the Stardust Hotel. Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and officials from Malaysia-based Genting Group placed golden shovels into hard dirt yesterday afternoon at the 88-acre site next to Circus Circus, signaling the start of construction for Resorts World Las Vegas.

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities at Grand Canyon National Park say they're investigating a possible suicide. A helicopter search located a body below the rim yesterday. Due to bad weather conditions, terrain and safety concerns, the body won't be recovered until later this morning. Park officials didn't have any information on the person's identity.
