IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An eastern Idaho sheriff charged with three counts of misuse of public funds is asking that his criminal trial be moved out of the county so he can get an unbiased jury. The Post Register reports that Jefferson County Sheriff Blair Olsen filed the request in 7th District Court. In February he pleaded not guilty.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 61-year-old southwest Idaho man has been convicted of beating his 87-year-old father to death. The Idaho Statesman reports that a jury convicted Anthony Conner of Meridian of second-degree murder and destruction of evidence. Prosecutors say Conner killed his father because he needed money to make payments on his home, commercial truck, a pickup and motorcycle.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's unemployment rate fell to 3.8 percent in March with 5,400 workers finding jobs in the largest one-month increase on record. The Idaho Department of Labor says total employment in the state also set a record by going above 757,000 for the first time. The agency says the state's unemployment remained at a seven-year low as businesses expanded payrolls.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A mystery man photographed pulling a driver from an SUV dangling over a 20-foot cliff above a northern Idaho canyon has come forward as the daring rescuer. Jason Warnock of Clarkston, Washington, tells the Lewiston Tribune newspaper that he left soon after saving the 23-year-old driver Wednesday to avoid publicity.
