NORTH OGDEN — A woman is uninjured after a man allegedly kidnapped her and led police on a chase while the woman was in his car early Friday morning.

Kenley Lemaster, 28, was booked into the Weber County Jail for investigation of kidnapping, evading, DUI and possession of a controlled substance, according to an emailed statement from Weber County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Cortney Ryan.

About 4:08 a.m. Friday, emergency dispatchers got a call from a woman who said she was in a vehicle and had been kidnapped, according to Ryan.

The woman didn’t know where she was and did not have any information about the vehicle or her alleged captor, but said the person was armed with a gun, Ryan said.

Dispatchers were able to locate the phone using information from the 911 call, and a sheriff’s deputy responded to Ogden Canyon, Ryan said. The deputy found a car traveling east through the canyon and tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver didn’t stop.

A chase ensued and continued into Ogden Valley, according to Ryan. However, deputies called off the chase because the woman tried to jump out of the moving vehicle, Ryan said.

Sometime after that, North Ogden police officers intercepted the vehicle, which was heading back toward North Ogden, in North Ogden Canyon. The officers again tried to stop the car, but the driver fled.

The car then crashed near 3900 N. 450 East in North Ogden, and police took Lemaster into custody.

Ryan did not provide the identity or age of the alleged victim.

Editor's note: Police originally stated the man's name as Kenly. Later, police corrected the name to Kenley. This article has been corrected to show that change.
