PARADISE, Cache County — A hunting guide was hospitalized Saturday after he was shot in the eye, hand and thigh at a private hunting club.
Craig Bingham, 60, of Paradise, was acting as a guide for a group of nine hunters from Huntsville at the Sportsman's Paradise hunting club when he was struck by at least three pellets at approximately 9:30 a.m., Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Peterson said.
The group was hunting pheasants when a number of birds flew out from cover, causing members of the hunting party to fire in multiple directions, Peterson said. Bingham was standing roughly 80 yards in front of the group in a knoll when he was hit by the gunfire.
Bingham was transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, but the wound to Bingham's eye will require surgery, Peterson said.
The incident has been determined to be accidental and no criminal charges will be pursued.
