COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina's top scorer and rebounder, Chris Silva, has decided to enter the NBA draft.
Silva announced his intentions through the school Tuesday. Silva says he won't hire an agent, which allows him to return to the Gamecocks for his senior year if he chooses.
The 6-foot-9 Silva averaged 14.3 points and eight rebounds a game last year, earning a spot on the all-Southeastern Conference first team. Silva was also co-SEC defensive player of the year.
Silva had 26 games with double-figure points and rebounds. He also led the SEC in foul shots attempted and made, going 213 of 283 this season.
Silva says he is excited to go through the NBA draft combine next month.
South Carolina coach Frank Martin says Silva is hoping to gather opinions of what NBA teams think of him.
