This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

Are you getting enough sleep each night? If not, you may be depriving yourself of more than you know. Each night your body is supposed to go through at least four REM, or rapid eye movement, sleep cycles. REM sleep is when your mind is more active than at any other time during the day, providing critical biological fixes and cementing new information learned during the day into your memory. The last hour and a half of REM sleep is especially important.

Karl Tobler has been studying sleep for years and is doing his best to help people get better sleep through his business Mattress Warehouse with six locations across the Wasatch Front. He's personally seen how bad mattresses can affect your overall health because they affect your sleep. That's why he developed the Sleep Fit System.

Karl and his team created a system to help them better match you with the right mattress. At Mattress Warehouse each customer fills out a questionnaire, providing information on their sleeping habits, preferences and any issues they have with their current mattress. This helps Karl's team of 22 employees to custom fit you with just the right mattress. Their goal is to help you get a better night's sleep, especially since around 65 percent of the U.S. population has some kind of sleep issue, according to Dr. James Maas.

After 20 years in the home furnishings market, Karl recognized a need in the industry. He did some research and saw how in other markets there were big discount mattress stores while here there wasn't anything like that in Utah seven years ago. He found a location in the Redstone Center in Park City and launched Park City Mattress, known as Mattress Warehouse in all other locations. The newest store, in Riverdale, just opened last fall.

The business is really taking off. This year Karl says it's up 30 percent over last year. At Mattress Warehouse they have one of the largest selections of name-brand mattresses in the state and offer a 60-day guarantee on mattress sets.

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
