FARMINGTON — Wind gusts of up to 60 miles continued to blow across the Wasatch Front Monday, especially in northern Utah.
The high winds are certainly no strangers in Farmington.
“We’ve got extra strong winds in the areas that are used to strong winds,” said KSL Meteorologist Grant Weyman.
A high wind warning from the National Weather Service was set to expire around 11 a.m.
Drivers must watch for possible flying branches and debris, like when winds have blown near 100 miles per hour.
“Strong crosswinds for people driving on I-15,” Weyman said. “Trucks and any high-profile vehicles are the real concerns.
Hundreds of people lost power in Weber County and Salt Lake City, but all power had been restored by about 7:00 a.m.
KSL listeners reported a few damaged signs and stoplights in their neighborhoods.
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City says the end of the warm streak over the weekend brought a return of winter temperatures along with the strong winds. Before Sunday, Salt Lake City recorded 48 consecutive days of above-average temperatures. February's temperatures averaged 13 degrees above normal in Salt Lake City.
