SALT LAKE CITY â The new year has not been kind to Utah State basketball.
Neither was Tuesday nightâs trip to the Air Force Academy.
Ryan Swan poured in 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead Air Force to a 79-60 home win over Utah State, handing the Aggies their third straight loss for the first time in the Craig Smith era.
AJ Walker added 12 points and six rebounds for the Falcons (8-8, 2-2 Mountain West), who handed Utah State its third loss in 2020, third in conference play, and fourth loss in the last six games against an NCAA Division I opponent.
Brock Miller led Utah State with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, and Sam Merrill added 10 points, four rebounds and two assists for the Aggies (13-5, 2-3 Mountain West).
The Aggiesâ three-game losing streak is the longest since dropping four straight in Mountain West play during the 2017-18 season. It also coincides with Smithâs first run of three straight games scoring 70 points or less, moving the second-year Aggie coach to 40-13 overall and 17-6 in Mountain West play.
For the third straight game, only two players scored in double-figures for Utah State â dropping the Aggies to 0-4 with as few double-digit scorers.
