WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Purdue football coach Jeff Brohm has received a two-year contract extension through 2024.

The school's board of trustees approved the deal Thursday.

Brohm was hired in December 2016 and turned the program around in his first season. The Boilermakers went 7-6, won the Old Oaken Bucket for the first time in five years and won the Foster Farms Bowl.

Attendance was up an average of 13,433 a game — the largest increase in the country.

Brohm says in a statement he has all the resources to succeed and pledges to work "tirelessly" to build a championship-caliber team.

Tennessee reportedly was interested in hiring Brohm last winter.
