CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina junior swingman Theo Pinson is out indefinitely with a broken bone in his right foot.
In a news release Friday, the school said Pinson was hurt in practice this week. UNC says a treatment plan "is currently being reviewed" for Pinson.
Pinson is a top defender, good passer and versatile wing for the Tar Heels, who won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season and tournament titles before losing in the NCAA championship game.
In a statement, coach Roy Williams said "hopefully we can get him back before the end of the season" but added "there is no timetable" because UNC is still consulting with medical personnel.
Pinson also missed time with a broken bone in his left foot as a freshman.
UNC opens the season Nov. 11 at Tulane.
