ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Chad Carr was honored with a moment of silence before No. 12 Michigan played No. 8 Ohio State on Saturday.

The 5-year-old grandson of former Wolverines coach Lloyd Carr died Monday, more than a year after he was diagnosed with brain cancer. His father, Jason, is a former Michigan quarterback, and his mother, Tammi, is a daughter of former Michigan defensive back Tom Curtis.

Carr's life will be celebrated Sunday at the Saline High School.

His story brought together Michigan's biggest rivals as he entered hospice. Michigan State and Ohio State players wore helmet decals featuring an image of a boy flexing his muscles and "ChadToughFDN" after the foundation created by his parents.

Michigan's players have been playing with #CHADTOUGH written with black markers on the back of their helmets.
