LAS VEGAS (AP) — Brianna Butler scored 17 points and Alexis Peterson hit a jumper and added a pair of free throws in the final 1:37 to help No. 23 Syracuse hold off a furious rally by Washington to secure a 66-62 victory in the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout Friday night.

Syracuse (3-1) built a big lead through the first half, taking a 36-24 lead at intermission and held a 14-point advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.

Katie Collier started Washington's comeback bid with a 3-pointer and Chantel Osahor added a three-point play to make it 52-44 with 8:48 left. Talia Walton's layup made it a one-point game, 54-53 with 3:47 to play.

Peterson sandwiched a jumper between a tip-in and layup by Walton with 1:37 remaining and pushed the Syracuse lead to five points with a pair of free throws a minute later.

Walton and Kelsey Plum scored 19 points each for Washington (4-1).
