GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A sheriff's official says a shooting at a South Carolina nightclub left two people dead and eight wounded. No one was immediately taken into custody following the early Sunday shooting at Lavish Lounge, but a Greenville County sheriff's spokesperson said they were looking for two suspects. Authorities had originally said 12 people were hurt, but later told the AP that two victims were likely counted twice initially. Of the eight wounded, some had non-life-threatening injuries and others were in critical condition. A Facebook post from the club said Foogiano was scheduled to perform Saturday night. A representative tells the AP the trap rapper is safe.

UNDATED (AP) — Pope Francis is praising U.N. Security Council efforts for worldwide cease-fires to help tackle the coronavirus pandemic. In remarks Sunday to the public in St. Peter’s Square, Francis hailed the Security Council’s “request for a global and immediate cease-fire, which would permit the peace and security indispensable for supplying so urgently needed humanitarian assistance.” The pontiff called for the prompt implementation “for the good of the so many persons who are suffering.” He also expressed hope that the Security Council resolution be a “courageous first step for the future of peace.” The resolution calls on parties to armed conflicts to immediately cease fire for at least 90 days to enable safe, sustained delivery of humanitarian assistance, including medical evacuations.

FAYETTE, Maine (AP) — After being cooped up for months, kids need summer camp more than ever but a smaller-than-usual cadre will enjoy the experience this year. Nationwide, the summer camp picture is coming into sharper focus with many of the 15,000-plus summer camps opting to close because of health concerns surrounding the pandemic, or because of delays in getting rules or guidelines from licensing officials. New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Oregon have banned overnight camps, and more than 20 states still haven’t issued guidance for overnight camp directors during what would normally be the start of the summer. Tom Rosenberg from American Camps Association says many camps won’t survive.

LONDON (AP) — The reopening of pubs in England did not overwhelm emergency services as many had feared ahead of the biggest easing of Britain's coronavirus lockdown. For the most part, people appeared to abide by social distancing rules, though in some places, large crowds meant it was very difficult to do so. That raised concerns that Europe's deadliest coronavirus outbreak may find fresh legs. One senior police officer did say it was “crystal clear” that drunk people struggled with, or ignored, social distancing rules. But Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the vast majority of people did “the right thing.”

BAGHDAD (AP) — The Iraqi military says a rocket aimed at Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone, home of the U.S. Embassy, struck a residential house and injured a child. It says the rocket landed next to a house close to a local TV channel. Iraqi officials say the embassy’s recently installed air defense system may have attempted to intercept the rocket. The U.S. has criticized the Iraqi government for being unable to rein in Iran-backed militia groups it believes are orchestrating recent attacks on Americans. The uptick comes shortly before Iraq embarks on strategic talks with the U.S. expected to focus of the presence of American forces in the country.
