GENEVA (AP) - A Swiss court has ordered the co-pilot of a hijacked Ethiopian Airlines plane held in custody pending further investigation and appointed him a defense counsel.
The man, who has previously been identified as 31-year-old Ethiopian Hailemedhin Abera, is accused of hijacking the Rome-bound plane and forcing it to land in Geneva on Monday.
None of the 200 passengers and crew members were injured in the incident.
Swiss federal prosecutors said in a statement Thursday that investigators are trying to get "a complete picture of the events during the plane hijacking" but didn't provide further details.
Prosecutors also said the plane was released to Ethiopian Airlines on Wednesday.
