NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Norfolk State University's governing board has approved a tuition increase to help make up for declining enrollment.
The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1jmaMZy ) reports that in-state undergraduates will pay $7,552 in annual tuition and mandatory fees. That's an increase of $326. The rate for room and board was raised by $250, to $8,624. That means a student living on campus will pay just over $16,000, or $576 more than this year.
For out-of-state students living on campus, the total cost will go up slightly less. They'll pay $29,320, an increase of $250.
The board raised costs in part because about 500 fewer students are expected to enroll in the fall, continuing an enrollment decline. About 6,730 students attend NSU now.
