DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — The Durham Police Department is offering residents a way to dispose of unused or expired over-the-counter and prescription medicine.
The department and Safe Kids Durham County are set to hold Operation Medicine Drop on Saturday at four locations. The purpose is to help prevent accidental poisonings and drug abuse.
Operation Medicine Drop will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kerr Drugs, 1812 Holloway St.; Kroger, 3457 Hillsborough Road; Triangle Pharmacy/Ace Hardware, 4711 Hope Valley Rd.; and Kroger, 202 West N.C. Highway 54.
Officers will supervise the collections and maintain security of the medicines, which will be destroyed in an environmentally friendly manner.
