LAKE POWELL — An Arizona teen died Friday in an apparent drowning in Lake Powell near Wahweap Swim Beach, officials said.
The boy, 15, was found dead Friday after he was reported missing about 12:30 p.m. that day, National Park Service officials said in an emailed statement.
The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area dive team recovered his body and he was pronounced dead on scene by the Kane County medical investigator.
The boy is from Page, Arizona, and was at the lake with a group from Page High School, park officials said.
The boy’s body was transported to Utah medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, park officials said.
The teen’s death is the second in less than a week in the area.
Albert Shortman, 33, of Cow Springs, Arizona, was found dead of apparent drowning near Wahweap Swim Beach on Sunday, park officials said.
