NEW YORK (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets were without starters Deron Williams and Shaun Livingston for their game against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.

Williams was out with what coach Jason Kidd said was right patella tendinitis, while Livingston missed his second straight game because of a sprained right big toe.

Rookie Jorge Gutierrez and Andrei Kirilenko started with Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson and Kevin Garnett. Kidd originally said Alan Anderson would start, but the Nets later announced he was out with a sore abdominal muscle and would be replaced by Kirilenko.

The Nets are likely locked into the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference, making it easier to rest players.

Pero Antic was back from a sore right ankle for the Hawks, but not in the starting lineup.
