OGDEN - The Weber State wrapped up spring football practice Saturday with the annual Purple and White Spring game on a cold, windy night at Stewart Stadium. Both sides of the ball made plays during the 45-play scrimmage, the last of the 15 spring practices.
WSU senior quarterback Jordan Adamczyk led the Wildcat offense, finishing the scrimmage 10-14 for 174 yards and three touchdowns. He found Erik Walker for a 65-yard touchdown pass and then connected with Braden Corpus on a 60-yard pass. Adamczyk finished the day with a 17-yard pass to Walker. Junior college transfer Alfonso Medina finished the day 6-9 passing for 58 yards.
Corpus, a red shirt freshman, led the receiving corps with six catches for 105 yards and the one touchdown and Walker and the two touchdown catches for 82 yards.
The Wildcats also totaled more than 100 rushing yards on the day with Karl Finai and Bo Bolen each rushing for more than 40 yards.
The ‘Cats also had several players make plays on defense with Chris Wheeler and DJ Bush both recording interceptions. James Washington and Siamani Harris each had a sack and Roman Valenzuela and Devonte Johnson both had tackles for loss.
"I was really happy with how we finished our spring ball tonight," said WSU head coach Jody Sears. "We've been a little inconsistent this spring but it was nice to see both sides of the ball make a lot of good plays. We had several nice things on the offensive side tonight and were able to make some big plays. It was nice to see everything come together to finish spring practice on a high note."
Weber State now begins preparations for the 2013 season which will begin Aug. 31 when the ‘Cats host Stephen F. Austin. WSU then plays at Utah, Utah State and McNeese State before beginning Big Sky play with Sacramento State on Sept. 28.
