PROVO - The Cougars earned a blowout victory over Idaho State over the weekend and didn't give the nation a whole lot to talk about. Everything went as planned. Riley Nelson and the offense had their way with the Bengal defense. Ross Apo and Michael Alisa each scored in the first six plays from scrimmage. The defense dominated holding ISU to only three points and 20 yards rushing.

The Cougars were expected to win, and they did. But was it impressive enough for Cougar fans? Idaho State is one of the bottom teams in the Big Sky Conference and losers of five straight. The Blue Cougar Football Blog recounts some good and bad moments from the ISU game. Some of the good include Nelson's play, the blocked punt, and two 90-plus scoring drives. A couple of bad things noted include BYU's nine penalties and three turnovers. Overall you have to be pleased with the Cougars performance, but it appears not everyone was pleased.

Kyle Van Noy has had a great start to his sophomore year and continued to tear up opposing teams with his impressive performance last Saturday. Van Noy had 3 tackles-for-loss, 2 sacks, 3 quarterback hurries, and a blocked punt. Good enough to earn Independent player of the week for the third time this year. Ben Lockhart of the Daily Universe profiles Van Noy and his aggressive play.

"We're taught to be basically animals by coach Mendenhall," Van Noy said. "We're always going to be aggressive, no matter what. That's just how we're taught to play here at BYU."

Van Noy's ferocious play has some fans yearning for him to have a stellar nickname that can be used for future promotions. Again, the Blue Cougar Football Blog launched an effort to come up with a nickname for BYU's rising star. Apparently Van Noy's family has already nicknamed him "The Savage," but The Editor lists some other names in the running including Van Noy-er, the Destroyer, Van Ninja, and Van Noise.

Finally, here are a couple of lighter articles for you to enjoy:

Brett Ross from the Bleacher Report has some uniform suggestions for the Cougars so that teams they too can cash in on the recent uniform fashion craze. [Kelly Martinez of Examiner.com](http://www.examiner.com/byu-cougars-in-provo/byu-football-the-y-speaks) goes for a hike to interview Y Mountain and its thoughts on BYU's seasons so far. The Y has had a great view of every game for decades and misses the glory days of Lavell Edwards. Just another critic for Cougars.
