HOUSTON (AP) — Veteran center Chris Myers has been released by the Houston Texans.
Myers was released Wednesday after playing for the Texans for seven seasons. He started all 112 games in his career in Houston. He holds the NFL's longest active streak for consecutive games played for an offensive lineman (153) and consecutive starts at center (128).
The 33-year-old was a sixth-round pick by Denver in 2005 out of Miami and played his first three seasons for the Broncos before a trade to Houston before the 2008 season. He has appeared in six playoff games with four starts in his career.
Houston general manager Rick Smith says: "Chris has been a mainstay on our offensive line for the past seven seasons ... we appreciate his contributions and wish him the best as he continues his career."
