SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The University of Utah's football team has indefinitely suspended senior receiver Cory Butler-Byrd.

Coach Kyle Whittingham says Butler-Byrd is dealing with personal issues but did not offer further details.

The school says he remains on a scholarship but will not participate in team activities while he's suspended.

Butler-Byrd is from Compton, California.

He transferred to the University of Utah from Los Angeles Harbor College in 2015 and started at cornerback.
