CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — No. 16 Virginia Tech and No. 23 Purdue both play Friday in the Charleston Classic with spots in the eight-team tournament finals up for grabs. The Hokies take on Northeastern while the Boilermakers face Davidson. Virginia Tech topped Ball State in the opening round and Purdue defeated Appalachian State. Northeastern defeated Alabama while Davidson outlasted Wichita State. The tournament's final games are Sunday.
UNDATED (AP) — The biggest college football game of the weekend is taking place in a baseball stadium. No. 3 Notre Dame will put its unbeaten record and College Football Playoff hopes on the line when it faces No. 12 Syracuse at Yankee Stadium. The only other matchups between Top 25 teams have No. 11 Central Florida hosting No. 19 Cincinnati and No. 18 Iowa State visiting No. 13 Texas.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — C.J. Jackson's 3-pointer gave Ohio State its final lead with 2 minutes left and the Buckeyes held on to beat Creighton 69-60 after squandering a double-digit halftime lead. Keyshawn Woods 15 of his game-high 19 points in the first half as the Buckeyes got out to a 37-25 lead. Creighton stormed back to take a four-point lead before fading in the last 2 minutes and losing for the first time in 25 home nonconference games since December 2015.
UNDATED (AP) — Ohio State faced plenty of off-field distractions and uneven on-field performances. Yet the Buckeyes are still in line to play for the Big Ten championship if they take care of business at Maryland on Saturday and beat Michigan for a seventh straight year next week. Tyrrell Pigrome will start at quarterback for Maryland after Kasim Hill tore the ACL in his left knee last week. Michigan State's run defense will be tested at Nebraska. Minnesota goes for another win against Northwestern.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska's offense has generated more than 450 yards in seven straight games. If the Cornhuskers put up the same numbers against Michigan State's stout defense, it will be another sign first-year coach Scott Frost's up-tempo spread option is a force in the Big Ten just as it was when he was at Central Florida in the American Athletic Conference. The Spartans rank first in the nation in rushing defense and allow fewer than 20 points per game.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — No. 4 Michigan has one last chance to fine tune its team against a lesser opponent before playing championship-caliber teams. The Wolverines are favored to beat Indiana by more than four touchdowns in their final home game of the season. Michigan closes the regular season at No. 8 Ohio State. The Wolverines will advance to the conference championship for the first time if they win in the Horseshoe. A Big Ten title would likely put Michigan in the College Football Playoff.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — With a spot in the Big Ten championship game secured, Northwestern has entered a strange pressure-free stretch of this already memorable season. No matter what happens for the 24th-ranked Wildcats in the next two games, they'll represent the West Division in the title game. Don't make the mistake of assuming the Wildcats will treat this trip to Minnesota as meaningless, though. There's momentum to maintain. For the Gophers, a win in their final home game would make them bowl eligible.
