COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina quarterback Connor Mitch has been released from Palmetto Richland Hospital where he was being treated for an internal infection.
The school said Tuesday Mitch was discharged. He was admitted to the hospital following the loss to Kentucky on Saturday night.
Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier said earlier Tuesday Mitch might need another day in the hospital before his release.
Mitch developed an infection from a hip bruise sustained in beating North Carolina on Sept. 3.
Spurrier says Mitch had internal bleeding in the hip area.
The coach says Mitch separated his right, throwing shoulder in the loss to the Wildcats last Saturday and will miss four-to-six weeks.
Former walk-on Perry Orth will start for the Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) against No. 7 Georgia (2-0, 1-0) on Saturday night.
