DALLAS (AP) — Oregon coach Mark Helfrich has confirmed wide receiver Darren Carrington and running back Ayele Forde will not play in Monday's national championship game against Ohio State after positive NCAA drug tests. Carrington did not travel with the team to Dallas after testing positive for marijuana. The results of Ford's test were not immediately clear.

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — Maria Sharapova (shah-rah-POH'-vah) won her 34th career title with a victory at the Brisbane International on Saturday with a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-3 win over Ana Ivanovic (ee-VAH'-noh-vich) in the women's final. On the men's side, Roger Federer moved within one win of his 1,000th career match milestone by beating fourth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov (GREE'-gohr DIH'-mih-trahv) 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals.
ADELBODEN, Switzerland (AP) — There was a show of solidarity with the French people during a World Cup giant slalom event in Switzerland today. Frenchman Alexis Pinturault finished second and was among several French racers who wore "Je Suis Charlie" messages on their helmets, showing support for their home country after a traumatic week of terrorist incidents.
