UNDATED (AP) — Mississippi State, the top team in The AP Top-25 poll, is facing No. 4 Alabama this afternoon. The game is being played in Tuscaloosa. The Bulldogs are unbeaten after nine games, while the Crimson Tide won eight of their first nine games.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — No. 4 Duke won its opening game of the season last night with a 69-point win over Presbyterian. Tonight the Blue Devils are playing Fairfield in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Penguins return to Pittsburgh tonight after a five-game road trip. The Pens were 4-1 on the swing and this evening entertain the New York Rangers.

LEVI, Finland (AP) — American teenager Mikaela (mih-KAY'-luh) Shiffrin failed to medal in the opening slalom race in Finland for the women on the World Cup circuit. She finished more than two seconds behind the winner, Tina Maze (MAH'-zeh) of Slovenia. Shiffrin stood in 14th place after the first run and wound up 11th.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The last time Christina Kim was a winner on the LPGA Tour was in 2005. The now 30-year-old enters today's third round of the Lorena Ochoa (lohr-AY'-nah oh-CHOH'-uh) Invitational in front by one shot. She starts the day with the lead over Paula Creamer (KREE'-mur). Teen sensation Lydia Ko is one of four golfers tied for third, three shots off the pace.
