BRIGHAM CITY — A water main break on Main St. has closed the road in both directions Tuesday night, according to UDOT.

The break was reported at about 9:15 p.m., and Main Street (SR-13) was closed when the "road began to cave in around the water main break," said Vic Saunders from UDOT in a written statement.

Main St. is closed between US-91 (1100 South) and 900 South (Fishburn Drive) until further notice. Saunders said the road has "extensive damage," and he did not have an estimate of when the road may be repaired and reopened.

UDOT is advising motorists to take alternate routes to access I-15.

  • From north of the closure, use Main St. north to westbound SR-13 to the Corinne I-15 interchange.
  • For westbound traffic from Sardine Canyon, use SR-90 to access the downtown Brigham City area.
  • For eastbound traffic on SR-91, use Medical Dr. and 500 West to access the downtown Brigham City area.
  • For Brigham City traffic on northbound US-89, detour west onto Medical Drive.
UDOT asks that motorists avoid using Forest St. from downtown as a detour due to possible delays from a busy railroad yard.
