SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah environmental officials are issuing a ban on burning devices such as fire pits and campfires because of air quality restrictions.
The Utah Department of Environmental Quality put out a "Mandatory" Air Quality Action advisory for Sunday for several counties including Salt Lake County.
The conditions mandate no use of solid fuel burning devices.
This includes open burning of any kind.
Officials are also urging reduced vehicle use by carpooling or consolidating car rides.
In Box Elder and Tooele counties, air quality action is voluntary.
