SALT LAKE CITY -- Technical teams at the University of Utah have been working all weekend to clear a worm from hundreds of computers.
The Conficker virus affected more than 700 computers in the Health Sciences Department and buildings, including the three hospitals and medical school.
Officials say medical information and patient data was not compromised, but staff and student data may not be safe.
The IT department is telling staff members and students how to get rid of the virus before it takes passwords, data and credit card numbers.
The Conficker bug has actually been around for a while. Experts say the virus has installed itself on millions of computers worldwide. For more information on dealing with the worm, see the links on this page.
