MOAB — State Route 128 reopened after a fire closed both directions of the highway five miles east of Moab Thursday afternoon, Utah Department of Transportation officials said.

Officers were alternating traffic in different directions to let cars through, but there are still major delays, Utah Department of Transportation spokesman John Gleason said. Officials asked commuters to find an alternate route via U.S. 191.

The road was fully reopened as of 9:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
