RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Mormon bishop in Los Angeles has apologized for the tone of a blog saying Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was unworthy to enter the faith's temples, but stood by his criticism of Reid's stands on some issues. Mark Paredes' blog, titled "Good Riddance to Harry Reid, the Mormon Senate Leader," drew criticism from the church and Mormon Democrats after it was published in a Jewish newspaper.

FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) — Davis County officials will repay inmates who had money taken out of their jail accounts to pay for lodging and medical expenses in a "pay for stay" program. The County Commission approved a resolution last week declaring the county's intent to repay money taken in the program from April 2010 and onward without a court order. A judge this year ordered the sheriff's office to stop the practice.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A St. George company says it hopes to help spur economic growth in rural southern Utah by making low-interest loans to struggling businesses through a federal tax credit program. Professional Funding tells The Spectrum of St. George the loans are available in areas identified as "blighted" under the U.S. Treasury Department's New Markets Tax Credit program.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Gordon Hayward scored 17 points, including four in the final 2 minutes, and the Utah Jazz overcame a double-digit, second-half deficit to beat the Detroit Pistons 97-96 last night. Derrick Favors finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds for Utah, while Enes Kanter had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
