OGDEN — A Morgan man is facing several rape charges, accusing him of sexually assaulting a worker he supervised at the Ogden fast-food restaurant.
Esgar Esduardo Menchu Gomez, 42, was charged Friday in 2nd District Court with forcible sodomy and five counts of rape, first-degree felonies, and forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. The assaults allegedly occurred between July 1, 2023, and Aug. 31, 2024.
The man impregnated the girl, who was 16 at the time, and forced her into getting an abortion, according to charging documents.
The teen reported the matter to Ogden police on March 3, 2025, charging that Menchu initially groped her at the Burger King where they worked and "gradually became more aggressive" and engaged in sexual activity with her in the bathroom of the eatery before work hours multiple times and in his car, the charges allege.
The victim "expressed not feeling like she could resist or stop what had happened due to fear of losing her only income at the time," the charges state. Investigators say the man "occupied a statutory position of special trust regarding (the) minor victim and in no way could (the) minor victim have consented to the sexual assaults or actions of (Menchu)."
In an interview with authorities, Menchu admitted to having sex with the girl and knowing she was 16 at the time, according to the charges. The man made his initial appearance in court on Monday and he is being held without bond.
