SALT LAKE CITY — A man was hospitalized after being stabbed while working at Valley Fair Mall on Monday.

In a post to X, West Valley police said a man working at a kiosk at Valley Fair Mall was stabbed multiple times just before 3 p.m.

Police said another man approached the victim, initiating a brief interaction with him before pulling out a knife and repeatedly stabbing him.

Bystanders were able to separate the two men during the attack, police said. Bystanders subdued the man with the knife until officers arrived at the scene, police said.

The man is now in custody, and police said there is no threat to the public.

According to the X post, the victim was in surgery on Monday to treat his injuries.
