SALT LAKE CITY — A 60-year-old Indiana woman is accused of making a bomb threat at a Salt Lake City school.
Daphne Yvonne Lloyd, of Greenwood, Indiana, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with three counts of making a threat against a school, a third-degree felony.
On Nov. 6, 2025, Salt Lake City police were called to the campus of the private American Heritage School, 142 W. 200 North. Officers were told that a person wearing a black hoodie was carrying a brown bag and a red suitcase, and "that the woman had a bomb in her suitcase," according to charging documents.
The first arriving officers spotted Lloyd, who fit the suspect description, sitting on a curb near 200 N. Main St.
"The woman stood up and began walking towards (police). The woman let go of the suitcase, threw other belongings in the air, and attempted to (run)," the charges state.
Officers chased down and Lloyd and took her into custody.
A teacher told police that she was approached by Lloyd while she was outside the school "with two other teachers and all of their students," and the teacher "asked her if she could help her," the charges state.
After further inquiring whether Lloyd had children who attended the school, Lloyd "became aggressive and said, 'I will kill you and all of the children.' Lloyd then said that she had a bomb in her stomach but not in her suitcase," according to the charges.
Police did not find any explosive devices.
