RIVERTON -- Power is out for about 1,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers in Riverton, including Riverton High School.

The company says the electricity went out around 5:45 a.m. when a power pole caught fire near 12400 South and 2700 West.

Riverton High is continuing with school as if it were a regular day. The school has a generator that is providing electricity. Nearby schools will help provide meals at lunchtime.

Rocky Mountain Power is working on the problem and expects to have power back on by 11 a.m.
