SALT LAKE CITY — Each Wednesday the Best Friends Animals Society comes to KSL-TV's studios to feature a pet that needs a forever home.

Tesla and Sandy are black and white kittens that have recently graduated from the kitten nursery at the Best Friend’s Animal Society. In the kitten nursery, kittens are bottle fed until they are old enough to be spayed or neutered, then they’re available for adoption.

Temma Martin said she doesn’t think they kittens are siblings, but they may as well be with their similar markings. Tesla is mostly black with a little white “beard,” and Sandy is more white with a little black “mustache.”

Martin said the adoption center still has “literally dozens” of kittens waiting for adoption as we are still in the peak of kitten season.

“As I was trying to walk out with (Tesla and Sandy), I had kittens climbing up my legs,” Martin said. “Seriously, it is out of control, the number of kittens (we have).”

June is the “Cat Days of Summer” at the Best Friends Animal Society. The organization received almost 550 kittens since March, Martin said. But with so much kitten competition, the adult cats might be left behind, so this this month all adult cats can be adopted for $10 at the adoption center.
