HOLLADY — A paraglider was seriously injured Sunday when he crashed onto the fairway of Old Mill Golf Course.

Unified police say the 31-year-old man took off from the mountain above Draper with some friends, and his equipment began malfunctioning as the he crossed over the golf course, at 6080 Wasatch Boulevard.

"According to witnesses, he was 20 ... maybe as high as up to 40 to 50 feet in the air when he fell and was injured when he landed," said Unified Police Lt. Dixon Bell.

The man regained consciousness while receiving treatment at the golf course and was later flown to a hospital, where he was listed in serious condition Sunday night.

Bell said he appeared to have severe injuries to his lower extremities.

The man's name was not released to the media.
