SALT LAKE CITY — Emergency crews responded to an area above the Living Room hiking trail Wednesday evening after three hikers witnessed a paraglider crash.
The hikers made their way to the injured paraglider, a male, and stayed with him until a search and rescue team arrived, according to Salt Lake City Fire spokeswoman Audra Sorensen.
Life Flight gave the search and rescue team a ride up the mountain and dropped them off near the injured male and hikers, Sorensen said. The man was carried down by rescue crews and taken to University of Utah Hospital in critical condition.
Officials confirmed the man was responsive while he was being carried down but did not release more information about how the crash occurred.
