HURRICANE — A man was flown to a burn unit in Las Vegas after receiving "critical burn and blast injuries" in a house fire in Rockville, Washington County on Saturday. Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue said on Facebook that the fire broke out in a home in the area of Main Street and 100 East in the small town near the south entrance of Zion National Park. Battalion Chief Tyler Ames with the Hurricane Valley Fire District said crews were called out to the home at 12:52 p.m. When they arrived, they found a fire in the basement. The injured man was outside the home already when crews arrived, Ames said, and he was treated on scene before being picked up by a helicopter. The chief said firefighters were able to extinguish the fire but the home sustained significant damage. In addition to Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue, emergency crews from Zion National Park, the Springdale Police Department and a life-flight helicopter responded to the fire. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
