PROVO — A family kayaking on the Provo River discovered a body in the river Tuesday afternoon.

The body was found about 3:40 p.m. near Exchange Park, which runs along the east side of the river from Columbia Lane to 900 North. When the family discovered the body, they called police, said Provo police detective Paul Shade.

Shade said the deceased person was male but detectives have not determined an age, and there were no obvious cause of death. The medical examiner was on the scene.

No other information was released Tuesday evening.
