SALT LAKE CITY — Flags at state buildings across Utah should fly at half-staff on Saturday, Gov. Spencer Cox ordered, in honor of fallen firefighter Corban Summers. "We’re deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Firefighter Corban Summers,” Cox said in a press release Wednesday. “He was known for his kindness and unwavering commitment to serving others. We honor his memory and mourn this profound loss. Our prayers are with his wife and children, his fire family, and the entire community he so faithfully served." Summers, a "respected and beloved" firefighter with the South Jordan Fire Department, died on Monday in bed while on duty at the fire station. He was 49. Cox's flag order applies to state facilities, but Cox also invited private citizens and businesses to follow suit in honoring Summers by lowering their flags. Throughout the week, fire agencies across the state expressed their condolences. [gallery ids="767535,767536,767537,767538"]
